This business unit is managing private equity investments in different structures from Green field investments, Brown field, and acquisitions forming different shapes of entities under the group varying from private equity funds, associates and subsidiaries.

The investments under this business unit are very strategic and long term in nature aiming at development of different sectors in Oman in order for the company to play a role in the diversification of national economy beyond oil.  Keeping the strategic aim in mind, the portfolio balances between the risk and return to ensure adequate returns to shareholders.

The current investment portfolio includes the followings:

Al Mouj Muscat

Al Mouj Muscat is a thriving, freehold title waterfront community spread along a 6 km stretch of coast in Muscat. Al Mouj Muscat offers outstanding lifestyle and leisure experiences that comprises residential properties interspersed with green spaces, pedestrian walkways and inland waterways, exciting retail and dining facilities and Oman’s only signature PGA Standard 18 hole links golf course. A centerpiece of the development is Al Mouj Marina, a premier marina facility and flagship yachting and sailing destination. Al Mouj Muscat is also home to a number of luxurious hotels managed by internationally-renowned .hospitality brands, including Kempinski Hotel Muscat

Oman Hospitality Company

Omani Hospitality Company was established in 2012 as a SPV to develop a five-star luxurious hotel at Al Mouj on a waterfront covering a space of 45,000sq m. The hotel will be operated by international hotel chain Kempinski Hotels S.A, which manages and operates currently 74 hotels in 30 countries. The hotel will offer 310 rooms and 77 hotel apartments. The hotel will also include food and beverage outlets, spacious meeting facilities, swimming pools, a star spa, beach club, gymnasium, ballroom, kids club and bowling facility.

Takaful Oman

Takaful Oman Insurance Company is the Sultanate’s first full-fledged Islamic insurance company. The principle activity of the company is to manage General and Family Takaful activities by adopting a hybrid model of wakala and mudaraba. The company was promoted by TANMIA along with a Ta’azur Takaful company and other strategic Omani founders and it is listed in Muscat Security Market (MSM).

Minerals Development Oman SAOC

Minerals Development Oman SAOC (MDO) is formed in 2017 as a joint venture between Oman National Investments Development Company (TANMIA), State General Reserve Fund, Oman Investment Fund and Takamul Investment Company.MDO is created in purpose of contributing to the development of the Omani mining sector by investing directly in or enabling various projects across a range of mineral commodities and value chains. The company aims to develop different projects across the upstream exploration and mining as well as downstream processing of metal ores and minerals. The sponsors are committed to contribute 60% towards the paid-up capital of the company and raise the remaining 40% via a public offering on the Muscat Securities Market in the future.

Bauer Nimr LLC

Bauer Nimr is an environmental service provider specialized in the cleanup of water and soil. The company developed the Nimr Water Treatment plant using innovative reed bed technology for cleaning oil-contaminated produced water from Oman’s Nimr oilfields for PDO.

Gulf Japan Food Fund (GJFF)

The Gulf Japan Food Fund is a leading joint strategic initiative between Japan and the GCC. It aims to assist in GCC’s food security plans & related logistics and technologies in this sector, develop Japanese and GCC food & agribusiness sectors and generate long term capital appreciation. The Fund will coordinate joint efforts between leading Japanese and GCC food and agribusiness players through a team of specialized professionals who will be managing the Fund’s operations, providing needed expertise in this sector, in addition to managing related investments.

Octal Holding SAOC

OCTAL Holding, established in 2006, is the largest PET Resin Manufacturer in the Middle East and the worlds’ largest integrated PET sheet manufacturer. In 2012, the company invested in a packaging production facility in Saudi Arabia. The company expanded into the USA by investing in a PET Sheet Manufacturing Facility. With a total of four production facilities its output now is nearly 1 million metric tons of PET resin and PET sheet per annum.

Muscat National Investment & Development Co. (ASAAS)

ASAAS is formed in 2014 and aims to increase the contribution of non-oil and gas sectors by initiating and developing economically sustainable projects to meet the needs of the public and enrich life in Oman.


In May 2017, TANMIA acquired 32% stake in AWASR, which is the first fiber-only high speed broadband service provider in Oman. AWASR started operations in 2016 and has witnessed huge market demand for the conversion of internet connectivity by consumers from leased line system to fiber broadband. TANMIA’s acquisition of the stake is our first entry to the telecommunication sector, which we intend to grow in as well as part of our diversification strategy across our investments. The company currently connects to residential households and commercial enterprises in Muscat through the fiber cables laid down by Oman Broadband Company which covers about 35-40% of the capital city as of date with an aim to cover the whole of Muscat by 2020and then gradually to the whole of the Sultanate. The company will be also providing broadband products such as connecting and gaming, smart home and others .

Al Meera

Al Meera Markets, which was incorporated in 2012, is a joint venture between Al Meera Holding Company (Qatar) to offer retail products and services. It owns and operates retail stores in key areas in Oman.

Al Namaa Poultry Co. SAOC

Al Namaa Poultry Company aims to procure, manufacture and sale poultry products. The company is expected to produce 60,000 metric tons of poultry meat by 2020 using its state of the art latest technology and equipment. The project,combined with existing producers, will drive the self-sufficiency of Oman in the poultry sector from the current 36% to an estimated 70 % in 2030. The project is expected to start operations in 2017.

Al Bashayer Meat Company SAOC

Al Bashayer Meat Company was incorporated with the objective to ensure Oman’s self-sufficiency in the red meat sector. The project will import livestock, fatten them, slaughter them in a ‘state of the art’ abattoir and offer branded quality red meat to the retail and institutional customers in Oman and other potential export markets. The project is expected to start operations in 2018.

Oman Aviation Academy SAOC

Oman Aviation Academy (OAA) is the first aviation training institution established in the Sultanate.OAA is a joint venture between Oman National Investments Development Company (TANMIA), The Omani Authority for Partnership for Development (OAPFD), Airbus Helicopters, Al-Hosn Investment Company and the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund. The academy is based in Sohar Airport and is operated by CAE, a leading civil and defence aviation training company with more than 50 training locations worldwide.The academy delivers an integrated Airline Transport Pilot License program (ATPL) for civilian ab-initio cadets, in line with the Omani and the European Air Safety Agency regulations (respectively PACA and EASA).The academy also offers specially tailored aviation training programs for military pilots.

Salam Air

Salam Air is Oman’s first budget airline. It is a joint venture between Oman National Investments Development Company (TANMIA) and various other investors. Salam Air was formed to meet Oman’s rapidly growing demand for air traffic and is expected to boost inbound tourism and advance the aviation sector in the Sultanate.

SME Development Fund

SME Development Fund is an Omani Fund incorporated in March 2014 to provide financing to the SME sector in Oman. The Fund is licensed by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and managed by National Company for Projects and Management LLC (NCPM).


OPAL Marketing Industry LLC

OPAL Marketing Industry LLC is the Master Franchisor of Precision Tune Auto Care (PTAC) in Oman since 1995. Currently, OPAL is among the largest automotive services providers in Oman after the dealers.It operates throughout the Sultanate through company owned centers & sub franchisee centers. OPAL also operates other business lines such as ‘Solar guard’ for window tinting, ‘BG’ for Equipment and Chemicals and ‘Royal Blinds’ for quality blinds and shades.

Sun Packaging Company SAOC

Sun Packaging Company, established in 1997, is one of the largest flexible packaging companies in the Middle East. Since TANMIA acquired a stake in SPC during 2011, the company expanded its operation by installing a new facility in Mauritius and adding new equipment on a regular basis to widen the product range for its customers including investing in a woven sacks production unit.
